Phil Robertson- did he say anything wrong?
With Phil Robertson being suspended from the hit show Duck Dynasty it has reignited the Anti-Christian Homosexual outcry. Now before I talk about this I want to give my background, I am a college freshman and I am also a Christian. So with that being said, did Mr. Robertson say anything wrong? In short no, everything he said was perfectly right in context with the Christian faith and was totally legal under the Constitution. OK now before you lash out and get angry that I do not think he was wrong in what he said, let me say that I have absolutely no problem with Homosexual people. I have many friends that are Homosexual and they are just the same as anyone else, but the issue comes up when we bring up the topic of faith. Now I do not condemn homosexuals, but when I talk to someone who I am not a friend with and I say I am a Christian all I get is one of two things. One they totally block me out and just do not want to talk to me anymore, two they blow up at me, and all they say is that I am a bigot and closed minded, a hypocrite and other names that I did nothing to warrant. So what is the overall issue between Christians and Homosexuals? In short it's that both sides are being hypocrites Christians are called to love their neighbors and to be kind to all people and spread God's word. NOT to condemn them for their choice to not believe in it. On the other hand Homosexuals say they just want to be accepted, but when someone does not agree with their sexual choices they speak out and try to do their best to pull them down. Beside the A&E-Duck Dynasty their was a similar occurrence of this when the President of Chic-fil-a said he did not agree with the homosexual life style. So to fight this The Homosexual community tried to start boycott of the Restaurant chain. They did this instead of just accepting his belief and moving on. Now back to MR. Robertson what he said was fine, and all A&E had to do was say that what Mr. Robertson said did not represent their company in any way and then their would have been no issue, but with them suspending him from the show they are punishing him for publicly voicing his beliefs contrary to what people say this is an issue of free speech, but it also a power play, but by doing this A&E have actually alienated their greatest asset to their network, because the Homosexual community are not the group that watch the show it is the right wing conservatives that watch the show. So congratulations Homosexual community you have voiced your opinion and in doing so you have bullied a network into destroying its only real success in years, you used your free speech to bully a company into suspending a man for taking advantage his free speech. So these are my thoughts I hope no one is to hurt by these, but these are my opinions and if you are offended then move on.
